Ceramic filter disc with an outer diameter of 312 mm and a permeate hole of 91 mm.
A 100nm (0,1 µm) membrane layer is located on the outside of the element, with the filtration direction being from outside to inside.
Feed fluid is filtered through the membrane layer and transported within the supporting structure to the permeate hole in the center of the disc.
Particles larger than the pores of the membrane layer are retained (concentrated) in the housing/vessel.
Multiple of such discs are stacked on a permeate tube, which rotates the discs in the feed fluid, creating a cross-flow effect.
Compared to tubular membranes, very high suspended solids concentration can be achieved in the feed.
